Mail

I guess I will never grow up when it comes to presents. Just ask any of my kids. :) Recently, Jan had a giveaway on her blog. She chose a winner, and then she chose two more names just because, and mine was one of them. How cool is that!? Just as I was starting to rip into that package, I remembered I should probably take a picture so I can share it with you all. Look how pretty her ribbon is. I love ribbons! They always are stuck to something special.

And this was indeed special! Jan sent me a beautiful box of notecards with a scripture verse on the front. I should have taken one out of the package so you could see it better..sorry. There were two Belle Soie silks--Poison Apple and Cobblestone--and a piece of 36-count Navy Bean linen by Lakeside. And she wrote a sweet note to me in that adorable little card there with the black cats. Was that not just the sweetest thing for someone to do? Jan, if you pop in, I want to thank you again for your kindness. What a sweet package that was.

And then the next day my package of Kelmscott goodies arrived. Are these "Scissors Shoes" not darling? I already know which one I will do: the one on the left, no doubt in red.

I drooled over these scissors. They are heavy and absolutely the prettiest that Kelmoscott has done, in my humble opinion. And I always look forward to the next needle minder. I don't know how I can pick a favorite of those..I love them all.

And here are just a couple of random pics I took last weekend. If anyone can identify that little yellow-breasted bird, I would appreciate it.

This was such a pretty sky. I wish the utility lines weren't in the picture.

Thank you for stopping by and sharing part of your day with me! And a special thank you for those of you who have left comments.

Favorite Things...

Fall. It is my VERY favorite season. I took this picture just a few days ago. It's the tree that is outside my kitchen window, and it's so much more beautiful than what I could capture in a camera. I know I will look out before long and wonder how the leaves fell off so fast, and I'll be grumbling because they're messing up my nicely mowed lawn, but I am getting a LOT of enjoyment from it right now.

I love weather vanes, and this one is on my garden shed...

My two youngest children are in Texas, so a part of my heart is there..we recently visited, and my Audrey gave me this. I love it, Audrey! If anyone remembers back in the spring when I shared a picture of the white "bridal wreath" spirea, this is hanging behind it. Just another one of my favorite things...

Favorite Things

If it seems like I have a lot of favorite things, it's because I do. Just things that will bring a smile to my face from sweet memories. This little gingerbread man was bought for my youngest daughter, who is now 29, when she was a baby. Every year he hangs on the doorknob.

And while I'm at it, my daughter wanted me to post 5 of my favorite smells. Hmm, well, I'm sure my husband is my very favorite. Next would be my coffee:
My Lotion and body spray: My 3 blonde grand-daughters

And my littlest darling, Natalie Ryan.

Did I mention Juicy? Oh..I think that's 6!

Favorite Things

Today I received a gift from my sister Linda. When she visited me a couple of years ago, we learned how to do punch needle together. I really did not think she would stick with it and I knew I would. I humbly bow to Linda..I've never completed one thing, and she's punching her guts out! I got this beautiful snowman in the mail today. He even has sparkly stuff! I absolutely love him and will always treasure it.

And then my sweet husband, who lives to give me what I want, (hope you read this babe..), gave me my Christmas gift early. I almost threw up I was so excited. :-) Here's a little teaser:

And here's the real thing! I love my DH more than anything, but this machine is really right up there with him. :0)

Family Tree

This is my family tree I am working on. It's not very traditional, is it? Nothing to write down, nothing to research. I can't remember where Paulette got the idea; I just knew my little pencil pine that I keep in my office is empty 11 months out of the year. Paulette surprised me for my birthday with a couple of the little "framed" prints, and then when we came home from a trip out of town, my little tree had lots of photos on it. I'm adding a couple at a time, as time allows. They're actually quite small, about 2 to 4 inches. It's one of my favorite things..thanks, Paulette. I love you!
